Trypsin 0.05 % EDTA Solution (1x)

The typical use for this product is in removing adherent cells from a culture surface. The concentration of trypsin necessary to dislodge cells from their substrate is dependent primarily on the cell type and the age of the culture. Trypsin is a serine protease produced in the pancreas. EDTA is a chelating agent which sequesters metal ions such as Ca2+ and Mg2+, enhancing the trypsinization reaction. Trypsin/EDTA solution (T/E) is a sterile, phosphate and HEPES buffered saline solution with a pH of 7.4 at room temperature.
